Media Hound

TimesWatch provides an interesting observation regarding this New York Times article:

The Times tones down references to the Al Qaeda connection of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who claimed responsibility for the murder of Nicholas Berg in Iraq. Douglas Jehl's Friday story, "CIA Says Berg's Killer Was Very Probably Zarqawi," leaves out his Al Qaeda affiliation in the headline, and Jehl first identifies Zarqawi as a "Jordanian militant." The Inside Box on the front page makes no mention of Al Qaeda at all, referring to Zarqawi as a "Jordanian militant."

I would add, that "Al Qaeda" has become a benign
abstraction used almost exclusively by the media
to refer to islamic terrorists.

And when islamic terrorists have blown something
up they often write "there is no definite link
to Al Qaeda."

A search of Google News for "islamic terrorist"
yields 337 items in the results:

huh. Excellent catch. I was so focused on comparing it to the tripe on the wires I missed it entirely.
