Via Mudville Gazette -- the Air Force has just named its first female fighter squadron commander, and he's right, this is a very, very big deal. Also of interest, this is the same woman who was suing DOD over their policy requiring females to wear the Saudi abayas when off base to satisfy "host nation sensitivities." She wasn't buying it. Hey, that's warrior spirit!

She should get a medal just for taking on the doofuses (sp?) who came up with the 'when in Rome...' thing. An officer is an officer, gender is supposed to be irrelavant. Obviously, considering her promotion, common sense prevailed.
