BLOGGER QUOTED IN BIT TIME MAGAZINE ARTICLE
Sorry, it isn't me, it's Patterico but we consider him a friend of the site, and this is a big deal for blogging generally (given that the Times thinks we're all wandering around in our bathrobes muttering to ourselves.)
Via Cablenewser, it's John Leo's take on the recent Pew study on the attitudes of journalists. Why, he asks, do outlets keep hiring people who think like the rest of the newsroom and not like their readers?
It's not a bad question.

Hey, thanks for pointing that out! I don't think I would have ever seen that if you hadn't.
Of course, the reason I wouldn't have seen it is because I'm referred to only as "[o]ne amused blogger."
That sounds like me, all right.

Yeah, I could have emailed you but this way brings it more attention -- besides, I really did like the contrast with the crazyguyinabasement.com image.

Do we need affirmative action for conservative journalists? Has anyone done a study of unemployed and/or discriminated against conservative journalists. That sure would be helpful. I mean, what self-respecting conservative would pursue a journalism career anyway?

It wouldn't be a question of employment or not: the question would be how many are able to move up to national publications/major dailies/the networks.
Affirmative action? I hadn't thought in those terms, but it wouldn't hurt for outlets to realize that they're out of step with the way most people think. The problem, I suspect, is that to the extent they get that they figure the people are, you know, wrong, and just need to be educated -- which is their job.
